Amazing interior, elegant, rustic and specious restaurant with charming garden. This place isn’t cheap but it’s worth it, food always fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. There is artwork for sale and sculpture trail 8€ per adult to visit.

1The Green Barn Restaurant at Burtown House & Gardens (Ireland) Located in the picturesque setting of Burtown House & Gardens, this restaurant emphasizes fresh, seasonal, and sustainable food sourced directly from its walled kitchen garden. The menu focuses on vegetables, herbs, and local proteins, and the space also serves as a venue for events. It combines rustic and contemporary interiors, offering a farm-to-table experience that reflects the seasons and promotes sustainability An expensive garden surrounded calm and great experience for great food experience. The Green barn offer a garden tour 8€ per head. I’m not certain the walk within the garden is worth 8€. Very few elements of stone and well maintained garden is flourished. Few mains and starters but the quality of food is outstanding. Great parking space, few shops inside the Green bar to pick organic confectionery items. Desert menu wasn’t that great pick. We’ve waited 45 mints even after booking the slot. One to one customer service wasn’t available. After ordering out in sun it took another 40 mints for food to arrive. Wait in the sun was not ideal especially with small kids. Ideal place if you want to spend 2 hrs or more to enjoy delicious food. Personally it’s prestigious choice to spend time in Green.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | A Hidden Gem Near Athy – The Green Barn Review The Green Barn, tucked away just outside Athy, is a food lover’s paradise that strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and elevated dining. If you’re craving a meal where every dish feels like it’s made with thought, care, and the freshest local produce, this is your spot. The Food: Every dish feels like a work of art. The steak was tender and juicy, paired with crispy kale, a creamy sauce, and beautifully garnished. The Hale was equally impressive—perfectly cooked, served with silky mash, caramelized fennel, and a fresh, crunchy topping. Even the fries were top-notch: golden, crispy, and moreish. Service & Atmosphere: The warm, stylish setting and friendly, attentive staff make you feel instantly welcome. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to linger—perfect for a long lunch or a relaxed date. The Verdict: Delicious, thoughtful food in a relaxed, beautiful setting. Whether you’re local or passing through, The Green Barn is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back!

Paul was an amazing server and made us feel right at home as soon as we arrived at the restaurant. We stayed in the old stable house on air BB and the breakfast was a nice extra to be able to experience. I’ve never had scones so delicious in my entire life and every dish was tried by one person or another the two days we were there as we had six in our group. Not a single complaint! Absolutely loved it.

Beautiful setting. Amazing building and interior. It’s a place to go for a treat/special occasion. Outstanding savoury food, desserts possibly not quite as good but I’m being fussy there. All in all a gem of a place, long may it thrive

Wow! We went for the Friday night Tapas and we loved every minute of our experience. The service was warm. The food was exceptional. We ordered most of the menu for our family and really enjoyed the best meal we had in Ireland. We all agreed the mussels are the best we have ever tasted. Delicate and richly flavored. Not tough as mussels often can be. Beautiful gardens. Creative drink menu. Music was high quality and enjoyable without being intrusive. This felt like some of the best restaurants we have experienced with multiple Michelin stars in the wine country of California. But also approachable so you could relax and enjoy a meal with your family. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Truly a magical evening. Thanks for creating such a special place. I can highly recommend.

What a delightful place! You are lured in by the beautiful mouthwatering cakes and scones at the entrance, welcomed warmly by staff and sadly we only had room for coffee but it was good coffee!

Beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous setting. The staff were incredibly accommodating and had made special arrangements for my Dad who is very hard of walking. Unfortunately my Dad couldn’t make it at the last minute, but it was very nice to see how prepared the restaurant was for him! Our starters were lovely, really fresh and interesting use of the produce which is grown on site. Our mains were good, but not as nice as the starter. I think this was down to the kitchen being under a lot of pressure as it was busy and they were running slightly behind. This did not impact our enjoyment at all, and the staff were extremely apologetic - even though we weren’t left waiting very long! On a warm sunny day this place would be even better, as the grounds and outdoor seating is gorgeous. If you are in the area I would recommend making a visit here, even if it was to just wander the gardens and stop in for a drink/snack.
